Wakulla County Schools is issuing a call to the community for volunteers to serve as Resiliency Coaches, a new statewide initiative designed to strengthen the social–emotional well-being of Florida’s students. The district is in significant need of volunteers who can help support students across all school campuses.
The Florida Department of Education’s Resiliency Coach program trains trusted adults—such as parents, grandparents, caregivers, and community members—to help students build essential life skills. These include perseverance, problem solving, grit, and the ability to work through everyday challenges. When students develop these resiliency traits, research shows improvements in attendance and academic achievement.
Becoming a Resiliency Coach is accessible and does not require an educational background. Volunteers will need to meet the WCS Volunteer registration requirements, complete an online training and a four-hour practicum through Resiliency Florida.
Participants receive a $150 stipend from the state upon completion of the full training and final survey.
Wakulla County Schools encourages anyone interested in making a meaningful impact on students’ lives to learn more or sign up by visiting BuildResiliency.org.
The district extends its gratitude to the community for its continued support and partnership in serving Wakulla’s students.
